Our Deepest Fear...

"Think well. Speak well. Do well. These three things, through the mercy of God, will make a man go to Heaven..."

NELSON: In the movie Coach Carter there's a scene where coach carter asks one of the kids what their deepest fear is. Well, the kid didnt know exactly wha the heck the coach was talking bout. Finally, later on in the movie, the same kid stands up and recites the famous inaguration speech from former south african president, nelson mandella. At the talk last nite on theo, the speaker ended his talk by sharing a small background on nelson, and then reciting the same speech. To me, its a pretty inspirational quote a great reminder of who, as children of God, were called to do.

THE TEXT: Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us. It is not just in some; it is in everyone. And, as we let our own light shine,we consciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

PRIMERICA: A couple months ago this filipino man came ot my doorstep asking me if I was interesting in earning money, if I ever thought of going into the business field. He began to explain wha he does and how much money he has made and how I look like a young motivated individual willing to learn and try new things. It was my fault cuz I shouldve told him off hand I wasnt interested but I kept on a hook. Well tthe guy kept calling my house(i didnt give my cell, thank God)wanting to get hold of me. Finally, sunday I spoke to him and gave him the opportunity to share wha it is. Met him at mcdonalds that nite and he showed me this whole slide show on how the company works, how you can make money. After it all I told him as much as Id love to do this, I juss have no time. Which is funny cuz he showed me the excuses people have...top one was time issue. ANyway, the guy sent me a thank you card today. It was hard to read but pretty much thanking me for taking the time out and if I can refer friends to him so they can earn and make money. People can get so easily caught up in those type of things. Its amazing what people will do to try and become rich.

LOOKING GOOD: My coworker is so creative, well you know how I was talking bout my wall I did at work? I was telling her that I wanted to put up letters inbetween each picture. She ends up taking the iniative and creates her own. Which is d0pe I like that kind of motivation cuz I was only thinking of doing bulletin board letters. She went the extra mile and juss made it straight out of construction paper. I have a half of a section to go then I'm done. It looks really cool, I feel so accomplished w/that place. Of course, its not perfect, of course there's problems yet I think God used my coworker and I as instruments somehow to change things around. Like I said the kids arent perfect, but a lot has changed in the past couple months I've been back. Maybe thas why God didnt give me or hasn't shown me a new job opporunity? Perhaps there was still more work to do at fern street.

ONE ON ONE: After bjs tonite, I had a cool convo w/peebs in the parking lot. We stood there talking for at least 20 min. juss catching up. She's a cool person, I'm glad God made her my prayer buddy cuz it had allowed me to really get to know her. Its funny cuz we dont usually catch up, catch up until our annual lentend luncheon at rubios. ha! My peebs rocks and if you know her or get to know her, you'll understand why.

TEN STEPS: I recieved this email the other day on ten steps to a blessed day...check it;

We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; when we are slandered, we answer kindly.

1 Corinthians 4:12-13a

Ten Steps To A Blessed Day

1. TODAY I WILL NOT STRIKE BACK.

If someone is rude; If someone is impatient; If someone is unkind, I will not respond in a like manner.

"Love is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs"
(1 Corinthians 13:5).

2. TODAY I WILL ASK GOD TO BLESS MY "ENEMY".

If I come across someone who treats me harshly or unfairly, I will quietly ask God to bless that individual. I understand the "enemy" could be a family member, neighbor, co-worker or stranger.

"For God so loved the world, He gave His one and only son
so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life"
(John 3:16).

3. TODAY I WILL BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT I SAY.

I will carefully choose and guard my words, being certain that I do not spread gossip, slander or malign anyone in any way.

"Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres"
(1 Corinthians 13:7).

4. TODAY I WILL GO THE EXTRA MILE.

I will find ways to help share the burden of another person. I will find ways to make life more pleasant.

"Greater love has no one than this
that he lay down his life for his friends"
(John 15:13).

5. TODAY I WILL FORGIVE.

I will forgive any hurt or injuries that come my way. (I will also work to forgive injuries that have been inflicted upon me in the past).

"God is love"
(1 John 4:8).

6. TODAY I WILL DO SOMETHING NICE FOR SOMEONE, BUT I WILL DO IT SECRETELY.

I will reach out anonymously and bless the life of another person. We always thank God for you mentioning you in our prayers.

"We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love,
and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ"
(1 Thessalonians 1:1-2).

7. TODAY I WILL TREAT OTHERS AS I WISH TO BE TREATED.

I will practice the Golden Rule - "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"- with everyone I encounter.

8. TODAY I WILL RAISE THE SPIRITS OF SOMEONE WHO IS DISCOURAGED.

My smile, my words, my expression or support, can make the difference to someone who is wrestling with life.

"If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink"
(John 7:37).

9. TODAY I WILL NURTURE MY BODY.

I will eat less; I will eat only healthy foods; I will thank God for my body.

10. TODAY I WILL GROW SPIRITUALLY.

I will spend a little more time in prayer today; I will begin reading something spiritual or inspirational today; I will find a quiet place (at some point during this day) and listen to God's voice.

COME TO THE AFTER PARTY AT CANA!

"It aint over..."im done, im out God bless!
