WOw today was extremely long day and i have a lot to say. Im suprised im not extremely tired and sleepy yet either. Praise God though! Gosh i dont even know whurr to begin, bout how hectic my day was. ONce again, praise God. My nb kicks are really durrty and i really need to clean them, but i dont know how! Agh! Tagboards werent even working half the day today! Oh why?! Mine works, but i juss checked on fred's a bit ago and his doesnt work. Well i guess the first place to begin, is something thas been on errone's mind since ehh Wednesday. Who is the winner of the makeitclap trivia contest?! Unfortunately, no one was able to guess the correct number of ministires. Thurrfore i shall make up a new question and the prize will still remain the same. So then wha is the correct answer?!Good question, let's take a look!
April of 2002, i became purrt of Servant's Heart! I cant believe ive only been in the community for 2 yurrs, but it feels like 10!
Last fall of 2002, i was going to lf meetings on regular saturday basis so i became an 'official' member when i received a name tag! haha wooO!
August of 2003, i got involved along w/jeanne in SFC. I became a member of that community when i graduated from the CLP in august.
October 2003, i went to my first YFC camp and ha before you know it i was a member of that community also.
Last year 2003, banne and i became involved w/the planning and organizing of the first ever SCRC young adult track.
November 2003, charisse and i contacted all the different community leaders and started up the 1st ever Spirit Games, which ill get into later.
Winter of 2004, Fred, pops, jeanne, and i became invovled w/the Leadership Formation Team.
Then geez ever since who knows when ive been teaching in the SRE program.
So the final tally is the magic #8! wow Anthony and joyce were the closet ones! Though i do visit other catholic communities such as liwanag, sly, etc. when i get the chance. Thanks for playing and be sure to check out the next trivia question on the bottom of this entry! Details to come later on!
Boss lady and burr came over this mornig to pick up thurr CD i made them for their montage. Then once they left, i left to meet up w/Mark Anthony and his house. We had plans to go to St. Luke's in temple city, to check out the hall. I wanted him to get an idea of wha he was going ot be working with in regards to liturgy of the mass. Well what was expected to be the most a 2-3 hour trip turned out to be 7 hour mini raod trip! It was one crazy hectic day! First off, i guess i shouldve gotten directions to get to temple city from this house. THough it didnt dawn on me it was two different directions.
So half of my was spent in the nissan altima mark anthony has rented out. Anyway, it took us an hour and forty-five minutes to get thurr. We kinda got lost trying to figure out which freeways to take. Ha we were hopping on and off freeways all morning long. At one point we whurr all the way nurr USC. Yeah, i know pretty furr out. THen the people i was trying to call for directions werent available so it was like oh whY?!! God was really testing our patience or something.
Finally we get thurr bout 12 something, we left his house @ 1035am. I started to give him a tour, showing him the purrking lot whurr errone will be purrking. Then we walked torwards the field area, the field whurr the games were 'suppose' to happen. Suppose to you ask?! Yes suppose to, details to come in juss a min. Then i showed him the youf room, the place whurr we were gonna have the nurses station. Finally, we get to the hall and it was locked. Well i didnt a chance to call fr. don in advance to tell we were stopping by. I figured id most likely end up seeing him around the parish. The hall was locked, and then God sent Fr. Don our way.
So we see Fr. Don walking inside the church, it looks like he was getting ready for a mass or something. We walk into the churhc and fr. don as always very cheerful and happy to see us. Surpised to see mark anthony and i, fr. don asked 'wha brings us out down hurr.' I had intro. mark anthony and explained that we wanted ot check out the hall and take pics of it so we know how were gonna set-up mass. Thas when Fr. don asked me, 'have you talked to jacob this week?' I said, 'no why?' From thurr Fr. Don hands us the bad news. Let me give you a little background info. before i get to the bad news,
Last month when charisse and i had our meeting w/fr. don as i stated in my blog it was very fruitful. Praise God! However, one of Fr. Don's main concern was security and saftey of the participants. On top of that the whole liability issue. We were able to work out some type of agreement in regards of how we were going to be taking curr of that. Fr. DOn then said, he was going to check w/the Archdiocese to see wha the policy was if juss having each groups liability forms would be sufficient enough.
Fast forward now back to today...
Fr. Don explains to me that he called and checked w/the archdiocese that week after the meeting he had w/charisse and i. The archdiocese told him that St. Luke's facility is too small to hold the amount of people we are antiicpating for the spirit games. On top of that the archdiocese said they(St. Lukes)would not be able to cover let's say if a kid had a heat stroke. The facility is too small in regards to holding people for mass and not having enough bafrooms for the amount of people once again we are expecting. I guess the archdiocese is sending fr. don a drafted letter explaning the reasoning. So Fr. Don relayed the info. to jacob, who is the contact person for St. Lukes.
The archdiocese encourages us to continue to put such a event on, however cant let us use St. Luke's. They suggest looking to a unniversity of some sort to hold that many people. My mouf coudlve juss dropped. Mark Anthony and i walked out speechless, not knowing what to do or say. So basically the archdiocese of Los Angeles, gave us the boot! To be honest i was frustrated & angry for various reasons. Yet at the same time, i was expecting something to go wrong. I was expecting some type of situation to occurr whurr God was telling me 'okay i want you to trust in me. I need you go give me your whole heart and juss walk w/me. I want to see if youre really going to let me hold your hand thorugh this.'
YOu know how that is w/little kids, whurr you want them to hold your hand when you go some place but they fight it. Or they'll hold on for a little bit, but then try to let go at the same time. The same exact thing i am now doing with God. So yes, i was expecting some type of downfall, but nothing this drastic. I mean i thought wif all the confirmed answers the core had received that St. Luke's was it. That this was the place God had chosen for us. All i had left to say was the infamous...oh why?!
We got in the curr and Mark Anthony said, 'Now what?' So he suggested/offered to go back to UCi and see wha we can do. We called leo to meet us thurr cuz we needed his signing power being mark anthony isnt a student anymore. Finally after a long drive, we get to uCI. We went to the student center and talked to stella the lady who does the paper for purrk reservations. Sooo that request for the use of aldrich purrk is now pending. We tried to put one in for the other purrk but the guy whos in churrge wasnt thurr. Oh why?!
After we were so hungry from all that driving and talking ot people, we went to eat @ islands. MMm islands! Good stuff! The food came pretty fast too, i was stuffed yo! I hadnt eaten at islands in quite. Then from thurr we ended up running into traffic on our way back to cerritos. I was getting really sleepy in the curr, but we started to talk bout something really funny and it woke me up.
So this portion im going to give a bigs up to my brotha in Christ, Mark ANthony. I really praise God for him today cuz he was like my peter. He drove at least 100 miles or even a little more back and forth from cerrtios to St. Lukes to UCI. He was the one who offered to go back and see wha we can do @ UCI. He was thurr to calm me down and juss let me know errthang will be okay when the 'big drop' happened. So i praise God for him, for juss really being thurr fo me today. He's a great guy, who always is willing to help out when he can. I see GOd's love through Him each time i talk to this guy.
The next person thas being honored on makeitclap today is leo! Praise God for leo taking the time out today to help me out w/trying to book UCI. This guy has a very humble hurrt and i always end up learning something from him. I praise God for him offering to help out w/trying to book spirit games @ UCI. For researching and doing all that type of stuff. I love this guy cuz he's so eager to be fed all the time. His great faith helps keeps me going! I love it!
Got home bout 5pm and then changed then rushed over to work. The chamber of commerce was having their annual distinguish services baquet awuurds. Honoring community leaders from differeht organizations throughout the city who have showed thurr hurrd work through their services to the city. So i was thurr helping people step down and go back to thurr churrs after they recieved thurr awurrd. State Senator Joe Dunn along w/Congressman Ed Royce was thurr.
While inside my office i was online talking ot my friend. Well the other day he was asking me if i drinking is sin. Keep in my mind, my friend is fallen away catholic now protestant, yet not practicing. Anyway, i said no its not a sin, we juss have to errthang in moderation. He asks well whas that mean? WEll i said it means we dont over do it. It means tht we dont go out to clubs errweekend and get drunk. Or go the burrs and keep on drinking till we get messed up. So then tonite he told me bout some girl he had ran into @ the club last nite.
SO apparently he goes to the hollywood highland club or something he and ran into some girl he was dancing w/before. They were bof suprised to have ran into each other again. As they were dancing my friend being pretty messed up from all the drinking, attempted to kiss her a couple of times. But she declined cuz she had a bf and felt it was wrong. Well the third time she gave in to the kiss. So when they were done dancing he suggested they exchange #s and call each other. After he was done telling me the story i thought to myself, #1, so much for that talk on moderation. haha #2 oh goodness. He then told me he was going ot go w/the flow and see wha happens. I told him not to try and get w/her cuz thas messed up if she has a bf. I said im sure you wouldnt want that happening to you. Well see wha happens...
Anyway back to work i was talking to State Senator Joe dunn and i asked him his opinion on wha has been taking place in iraq. He told me he's a very harsh critic and that thurrs a lot of things that have wrong in the bush admin.(which i totally agree on)He feels thurrs a lot of unanswered questions in regards to the prisoner abuse, so well juss have to wait and see wha unfolds. As for rumsfield, senator dunn feels he should step down, though he said, i doubt he will but my personal opinion is he should.
You know who i really think are awesome people?! The purrks and recs commissioners for stanton. Very humble people who put the communities needs and whas best for the community before thurr own. Over the past yurr ive really gotten to know them, and i think theyre great people. Theyre not into all the poltiics, but into really serving the community. I think thas great! So praise God for them, always willing ot help out.
Lastly im going to honor and say happy blated birday to my pb, jemmelee!Woo! i love my pb! always interceeding for me and juss making sure im okay. Then we have our annual 'pb rubio lunches' during Lent on a friday. She's juss one talented person w/so much love to give. Filled w/God's love, im extremely grateful for her. So Pb churrs to you happy birfday!!! May God continue to bless you and shower you w/blessings!
