Drawing the Line
"Never take on more than you can pray about..."
I heard this quote at the bible study last week and I thought 'oh wow how much much does that quote apply to me.' Its funny how you hurr things and it really makes you think twice. Anyway, so I saw last nite the spirit games trailer! haha imma put it on my blog real soon, and im sooo excited. I couldnt help but to smile as I watching it last nite. All the fun memories came back to my mind. THe games, the laughter, the smiles, the graces, and the tight music min. :sigh: Although it was only 30 secs. for those 30 secs. I was brought back to unforgettable aug. 7 @ UCI.
So I found out wha song it was that guy who was being emo at the alaines purty was listening to. Ive been trying to figure it out this past week. ANyway it was mario, let me love you is the name of hte song he was playing over and over and over and over until he finally left. Now errtime I hurr the stupid song imma be reminded of alaines purrty. agh! I liked the song to, but now he played it out. AGh! Its funny fred said, 'ill listen to a song I really like twice, sometimes three, but over and over again...' ahahha
Speaking of music, kost 103.5 sturrted playing thurr christmas songs already. Whoa! Talk bout hella early. Now normally, Im anal bout christmas songs, I dont like listening to them until dec. 1 but as of the past couple yurrs Ive kinda broken that rule. Its hurrd when christmas songs are allll around. Im excited for the caroling to begin, I remember the enhancements we made last yurr they were fun. CHristmas caroling so much fun...I remember that time last yurr when my gum got caught in the back of my throat and I sturrted to choke. Then errone went on singing like nothign was happening...ah the memories
I was browsing on myspace and I was reading some peoples blog entries that they posted. Well I came across one that really intrigued me. IT came from this girl I went to hs with, I always admired her cuz she was 'different' in a sense. Her perspectives on things in life intrigued me and made me think twice. I always like those kinda people who help you see the differetn side of things. Anyway she had graduated two yurrs after me and went on to CSULB. I think she wrote in article for the grunion and went something like this...
Funny how when I got to vote for my first Presidential election, it was like 'voting for the lesser of two evils'. That was the opinion I also got from most of my peers. I'm sure everyone's tired of politics being shoved down their throats, but what annoyed me significantly were the advocators. I genuinely admire the MTV generation's attempt at trying to get more people to vote, but isn't it strange how some of us now are looking to Christina Aguilera and P. Diddy to tell us to vote? The same girl who gets Dirrty is telling me to vote? And the only catchy slogan I can think of from this election is Diddy's 'Vote or Die'. Some people saw it as a strong and effective motto, but I saw it as a way to capitalize on today's youth while feeding your reputation. It's like killing two birds with one stone.
I'm sure that a large percentage of today's youth doesn't necessarily buy into the attempt to make voting a trend, but come on, give me someone with some real clout. I guess this is where I personally have to do my own research. But it's kind of hard to when I'm distracted by Green Day and Eminem. I'll admit it, I get sucked in too. I just want a real idol, I have to remind myself: I shall not worship false American Idols. The Kings of Comedy are not royalty. (And Anne, you are never going to sleep with Josh Hartnett). Our generation lacks Martin Luther Kings and Cezar Chavezs'. Wouldn't it be nice to have someone admirable like that to help guide not only our political opinions but morals as well?
I read a speech today written by Martin Luther King Jr. and NO, it wasn't "I Have a Dream". It was about 4 pages and to sum it up, it was about war, the humanity that is needed to stop war in general and 'nonviolent coexistence' versus 'violent co-annihilation'. A main point, "We as a nation must undergo a radical revolution of values. We must rapidly begin a shift from a 'thing-oriented society' to a 'person-oriented' society. When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, materialism, and militarism are incapable of being conquered."
This speech made me realize how self-absorbed we are. I mean when was the last time you saw anything meaningful on tv? Oh that's right, we're too busy working for stupid Dooney and Burke bags that cost as much as our tuition or paying for cell phones that distract us in class and cause stupid fender benders cuz you weren't paying attention. I guess it goes back to the old saying 'What's popular is not always right and what's right is not always popular'. I guess I just want people to do more meaningful things.
I want a President that visits hospitals with injured soldiers coming home from war and I want a Governor that wasn't in an action flick that capitalized on violence and robots. Wait, I like robots. Scratch that. I've got this problem see, I have lots of faith in people and I have high expectations, and I get really sad when things don't reach up to par. But I'm also forgiving, so I forgive the dirty politicians, the dirty minds, and the dirty mouths of society cuz I know there's some real good stuff out there. And I want to find it.
My programs have been building up the #s again, which Im happy. Last wed. I had these two twin boys who are like 9 come in. I dont think my supervisors have seen the #s but its okay. One of the kids brought back the cup I gave him last week. I told them if they brought back this cup next week, Ill fit it up w/something.
